Desk Note: Airport Transit
YVR to the Door: Taking the Canada Line to River Rock
When landing at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) with two heavy bags, taking the train to River Rock Casino Resort is straightforward. The resort does not operate a private airport shuttle, but the regional SkyTrain network connects the terminal directly to Bridgeport Station across from the hotel doors. We walked, timed, and documented every step of the transfer.

Boarding at YVR-Airport and Understanding the Fares
After clearing baggage claim at YVR, we followed the overhead signs for the Canada Line train station. The rail platform serves as the terminus for the airport line. Trains depart frequently throughout the operating day, running roughly from 5:00 AM until 1:00 AM daily.
Because the resort advertises no dedicated airport shuttle service, the Canada Line is the primary transit link for fly-in guests. Purchasing a ticket at the station vending machines involves a specific fee structure. Single adult fares start at $3.50 for cash or contactless payments ($2.85 when using a Compass stored-value card). However, all adult journeys departing YVR-Airport, Sea Island Centre, or Templeton stations attract an additional $6.50 YVR AddFare surcharge. If you are travelling from the airport to Bridgeport, expect this charge on outbound travel. Trips between Sea Island stations themselves are exempt, but Bridgeport sits across the Fraser River on the Richmond mainland, meaning the surcharge applies.
For guests arriving late at night or managing multiple items of luggage, the short train ride is simple even when you are exhausted from a long-haul flight.
The Ride to Bridgeport Station and Platform Navigation
The journey from YVR-Airport to Bridgeport Station takes only a few minutes across Sea Island. Bridgeport is a critical junction on the TransLink network: it sits immediately northeast of the flying junction where the Canada Line splits into two distinct branches—one heading west to the airport terminals and the other continuing south toward Richmond–Brighouse.
When riding from YVR to the resort, you do not need to change trains mid-route. Your train travels directly eastbound into Bridgeport Station (located at 2211 Great Canadian Way). You simply step off at Bridgeport. If you were instead travelling out from downtown Vancouver's Waterfront station, you would take any Southbound train; if it is marked for Richmond–Brighouse or YVR, both stop at Bridgeport before the track splits.
When carrying two heavy rolling bags, we reached the ground concourse from the elevated platform. The concourse opens onto a bus loop serving regional routes (including buses 403, 407, 430, 480, and the 620 to the Tsawwassen ferry terminal), but hotel guests need only walk out toward the street side facing River Road.
Crossing to the Resort: Pedestrian Access and Check-In Rules
River Rock Casino Resort is located at 8811 River Road, directly across the roadway from Bridgeport Station. The complex spans two primary towers: the Hotel Tower (housing standard King and Queen rooms) and the Casino Tower (housing all-suite categories), connected internally by a covered Sky Bridge above the ground level.
From the station concourse, wide pedestrian crosswalks lead across Great Canadian Way and River Road into the resort grounds. Paved, level pathways lead directly toward the main entrance beneath the porte-cochère. Pathways lead across Great Canadian Way and River Road into the resort grounds.
Upon reaching the front desk, tired travellers should keep several mandatory front-desk house rules in mind:
- Check-in age: You must be 19 years of age or older to check in and register a room.
- Identification: The front desk requires valid government-issued photo ID (a driver's licence or passport) along with a matching physical credit card.
- Security deposit: A deposit of $100 CAD on a major credit card (or $500 CAD on a Visa/Mastercard debit card) is pre-authorised upon arrival alongside room taxes. Prepaid debit cards are not accepted.
- Resort fee: A mandatory daily resort fee plus tax is added per room per night. This fee covers self-parking in the West lot, high-speed WiFi, pool and hot tub access, the fitness centre, bottled water, and local calls.
Guests arriving with minors should note that while guests under 19 can stay in the hotel rooms and dine in family-friendly venues, provincial law strictly prohibits anyone under 19 from stepping onto the gaming floor. In British Columbia, all visitors entering the casino must show valid photo ID at the door, which is scanned in accordance with regulations set by the Independent Gambling Control Office (IGCO) and BCLC.
Late Arrivals, Dining Choices, and Transfer Logistics
If your flight arrives late into YVR, knowing food options before landing saves time. The resort houses ten food and beverage venues. For late-night arrival meals, Chopsticks Noodle House operates daily from 7:00 AM until 3:00 AM, making it the primary option for late dining. Zio's stone-oven pizza and Rock House Burgers & Fries remain open until midnight on Friday and Saturday nights (closing at 10:00 PM Sunday through Thursday). The property's flagship restaurant, Gordon Ramsay Steak, serves dinner until 9:30 PM Sunday through Thursday and 10:30 PM on Friday and Saturday.
It is worth noting that the resort property sits on Musqueam lands and, since 16 June 2026, has been owned by a partnership of Petroglyph Development Group (Snuneymuxw First Nation) and Musqueam Capital Corp. Gaming activities on site are conducted by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC).
