Route and Parking Desk Notes

Driving to River Rock from Vancouver and the Fraser Valley

We drove the main approaches to River Rock Casino Resort from downtown Vancouver, the Fraser Valley, and southern corridors to Map the clearest turning points onto River Road. Whether you are crossing the Fraser River from Vancouver over the Oak Street or Knight Street bridges, or coming west on Highway 91, the final turns onto River Road require watching the signs carefully. Here is our road-tested arrival guide and garage layout.

Start → From Vancouver

  1. North Approach (Vancouver)

South on Highway 99 across Oak Street Bridge. Take the immediate River Road exit ramp, turn east along the Fraser River, and approach 8811 River Road on the left.

  2. East Approach (Burnaby / Fraser Valley)

South across Knight Street Bridge or west on Highway 91 to Bridgeport Road. Travel west on Bridgeport Road, turn right (north) on Great Canadian Way, then left onto River Road.

  3. South Approach (Seattle / Delta / Surrey)

North on Highway 99 through or around local connectors toward Richmond. Take the Bridgeport Road exit west, turn right on Great Canadian Way, and proceed to River Road.

  4. Property Arrival & Parking Selection

Follow driveway signage on River Road: turn left for valet porte-cochère, right/west for standard self-parking West lot, or East Parkade for over-height stalls.

Approaching from Vancouver via Oak Street Bridge

When travelling south from downtown Vancouver, Fairview, or Kitsilano, Highway 99 South brings you over the Oak Street Bridge into Richmond. As you descend the bridge structure, stay in the right-hand lanes. You will take the immediate exit towards River Road and Bridgeport. This ramp loops down to meet River Road heading east along the Fraser River basin.

Once you merge onto River Road, the resort complex and elevated SkyTrain track structure come into view on your left. The main hotel and gaming towers sit at 8811 River Road, Richmond. Keep right as you approach Great Canadian Way. If you miss the initial River Road exit off the Oak Street Bridge, you will be pushed south onto Highway 99 toward the George Massey Tunnel; taking the Bridgeport Road exit instead allows you to circle back north to River Road, though it adds extra traffic signals during evening commuter hours.

We timed traffic patterns across the Oak Street Bridge during weekday afternoon rushes. Crossing times depend heavily on bridge congestion and weather, so we recommend building in extra time during peak hours between 3:30 PM and 6:30 PM. For travellers wanting to bypass city driving altogether, the SkyTrain offers a direct rail link; read our guide on Canada Line access from YVR and downtown for transit alternatives.

Approaching from East Vancouver and Burnaby via Knight Street Bridge

Drivers coming from East Vancouver, Burnaby, or Highway 1 can use Knight Street South. Crossing the Knight Street Bridge brings you directly into northern Richmond's industrial and commercial corridor. Take the exit for Bridgeport Road heading west.

Drive west along Bridgeport Road for approximately two kilometres. Turn right onto Great Canadian Way heading north toward the river. Great Canadian Way runs directly between the Bridgeport Canada Line station on your right and the resort property on your left. Turn left onto River Road to reach the main vehicle entrances for valet, self-parking, and check-in drop-off bays.

This route avoids the heavier merge points of the Oak Street Bridge exit ramp, making it a reliable alternative during high-volume periods. It also provides direct access to the East Parkade, which houses the over-height vehicle area.

Approaching from the Fraser Valley via Highway 91

If you are travelling from Surrey, Langley, or Abbotsford via Highway 1 or Highway 10, take Highway 91 North across the Fraser River via the East Channel Bridge into Richmond. Highway 91 becomes Highway 91A / Alderbridge Way or feeds into the Knight Street corridor depending on your lane choice.

Follow signs for Highway 91 West toward Vancouver and Richmond Centre, then take the exit for Bridgeport Road. Head west on Bridgeport Road until you reach Great Canadian Way, where you will turn right. Continue north toward River Road, following the signs for hotel guest drop-off and parkade structures.

Drivers making a longer regional trip can consult our guide on using the resort as a road-trip base for exploring the Fraser Valley and coastal British Columbia.

Navigating River Road and Finding the Correct Garage Entrance

When you arrive on River Road, vehicle traffic divides into specific streams depending on vehicle clearance, valet preference, and room check-in requirements. The entrance layout includes distinct access points:

  • Valet and Hotel Guest Drop-off: Turn into the main resort plaza off River Road or Great Canadian Way. Valet service is available at the main porte-cochère for $33.00 per night.
  • Standard Self-Parking Garage (West Lot): The primary parkade entrance for standard passenger cars (under clearance height) is accessed directly on the west side of the resort off River Road. Hotel guests paying the daily $19.99 resort fee receive self-parking in the West lot included with their stay.
  • Over-Height Vehicle Parking (East Parkade): Vans, trucks, or small recreational vehicles exceeding standard garage clearance must use the designated over-height self-parking area in the East Parkade at $25.00 per night.

For detailed clearance specs, stall rules, and night rates, see our dedicated breakdown of parking rates and garage access. If you drive an electric vehicle, note that on-site charging details are limited; review our notes on EV charging options near the property.

Check-In Procedures and BC Gaming Door Policies

Once parked, hotel guests staying in the Hotel Tower or Casino Tower can head to the lobby desk. Hotel check-in requires a valid photo ID (driver's licence or passport) matching the credit card presented for room charges and the required security deposit ($100 on standard credit cards, or $500 on Visa or Mastercard debit; prepaid cards are not accepted). For details on suite layouts in the two towers, read our overview of rooms in the two towers.

If your stay includes visiting the gaming floor, keep in mind that provincial law requires all guests entering British Columbia casino facilities to be 19 years of age or older. Mandatory ID scanning is enforced at every venue door under British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) regulations, supervised by the Independent Gambling Control Office (IGCO). You must show original, government-issued photo identification to security staff upon entering the gaming area. Minors are strictly prohibited from entering the casino floor.

Note on venue management: Effective 16 June 2026, ownership of the property transferred to a partnership between Petroglyph Development Group (Snuneymuxw First Nation) and Musqueam Capital Corp, sitting on Musqueam lands.
