YVR Airport Layover Guide: Canada Line Transit and Overnight Stay

When flying through Vancouver International Airport (YVR) with an overnight connection, choosing an off-airport hotel requires clear timing and reliable transit. River Rock Casino Resort sits directly across the street from Bridgeport station on the Canada Line SkyTrain network. We reviewed the transfer points, luggage steps, dining options, and early check-out process so you can turn a short layover into a predictable overnight stay.

Start → Airport layover

  1. 18:00 — Touchdown at YVR

Land at Vancouver International Airport (YVR), clear primary inspection or domestic baggage retrieval, and follow signs toward the Canada Line station concourse.

  2. 18:35 — Board Canada Line Train

Purchase a single fare or tap contactless at the gate. Board any train departing YVR–Airport bound for downtown Vancouver.

  3. 18:45 — Arrive at Bridgeport Station

Disembark at Bridgeport station (the first major main-line junction). Cross via the pedestrian Sky Bridge directly into River Rock Casino Resort.

  4. 19:00 — Front Desk Check-In

Present valid government photo ID and matching credit card for registration and the standard deposit in either the Hotel Tower or Casino Tower.

  5. 20:00 — Evening Dinner

Dine at one of the ten venue options on site, including Gordon Ramsay Steak, KOI, Sea Harbour, or Chopsticks Noodle House (open until 3:00 AM).

  6. 06:30 — Morning Express Check-Out

Check out at the front desk, grab coffee at Starbucks (opens 6:00 AM), and cross back to Bridgeport station platform.

  7. 06:45 — YVR Terminal Arrival

Board the YVR–Airport branch train at Bridgeport for the short return trip directly into the airport concourse ahead of your flight.

Transit from YVR to Bridgeport Station

Vancouver International Airport does not feature a hotel directly inside the main terminal building, but the Canada Line from YVR and downtown provides a rail connection directly to Bridgeport station. The resort does not operate an airport shuttle bus. Travellers arriving at YVR follow the overhead airport signage toward the Canada Line platform located between the International and Domestic arrival areas.

Trains departing YVR–Airport head east toward Bridgeport station. Bridgeport serves as the central junction where the line splits into two branches: one heading southwest to YVR–Airport and the other running south to Richmond–Brighouse. Because Bridgeport is the first main-line junction after leaving the airport island, the train trip from the airport terminal to Bridgeport station takes only a few minutes. Passengers travelling from YVR must clear airport customs or luggage collection, follow the skywalk to the station platform, and board any eastbound train.

Fares on the Canada Line require an adult 1-Zone or 2-Zone fare ($3.50 or $5.10 cash/contactless; $2.85 or $4.20 Compass stored value). For journeys starting at YVR–Airport, Sea Island Centre, or Templeton stations, TransLink applies a $6.50 YVR AddFare fee on top of standard single-use fares. Travellers returning to the airport from Bridgeport station the following morning do not pay the AddFare on their outbound trip from Bridgeport to YVR.

Station Crossing and Hotel Check-In Steps

When exiting Bridgeport station at 2211 Great Canadian Way, the resort sits immediately across the street at 8811 River Road. A pedestrian overhead walkway (the Sky Bridge) connects the station area directly into the resort complex, keeping travellers out of street-level traffic with roller bags.

Hotel accommodations at River Rock are separated into two main structures: the Hotel Tower and the Casino Tower. Standard guest rooms (1 King, 2 Queen, and 1 King Accessible) are located in the Hotel Tower, while all suites are located in the Casino Tower. Front desk check-in handles guests for both towers. Check-in requirements are strictly enforced across British Columbia properties. Guests must present a valid physical photo ID (such as a driver's licence or passport) along with a matching credit card. A security deposit ($100 on a standard credit card or $500 on a Visa or Mastercard debit card) is pre-authorised at check-in on top of room charges and tax. Prepaid credit cards are not accepted for deposits.

If you arrive early before guest rooms are ready or want to store large bags after check-out, guest services at the front desk can secure luggage. Note that outside food is strictly prohibited in guest rooms and suites under resort policy.

Late Dinner and Morning Food Options

Layover schedules often land travellers at awkward hours. The resort maintains ten food and beverage options on site, giving guests choices without needing to leave the property or call a ride share.

For guests arriving on late flights, Chopsticks Noodle House serves soups, rice, and noodle dishes daily from 7:00 AM to 3:00 AM. For thin-crust pizza or casual bites, both Zio's and Rock House Burgers & Fries remain open until 10:00 PM Sunday through Thursday, and until 12:00 AM midnight on Friday and Saturday nights. If you arrive early enough in the evening, restaurants such as Gordon Ramsay Steak (open until 9:30 PM Sun–Thu, 10:30 PM Fri–Sat), KOI sushi, and Sea Harbour Cantonese cuisine offer sit-down dining.

For early morning departures before a flight, Starbucks opens daily at 6:00 AM near the hotel entrance. The Chairman's Room Lounge also opens at 7:00 AM for early morning food. For additional details on table service or lounge menus, read our guide to restaurants on site.

BC Casino Regulations and On-Site Rules

Travellers planning to pass through the gaming floor or lounge areas during their layover must be aware of provincial law. In British Columbia, entry to any casino or gaming space is restricted to persons 19 years of age or older. Mandatory ID scanning is required at every casino entrance under provincial regulations managed by the Independent Gambling Control Office (IGCO) and conducted by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC). Minors cannot walk through the gaming floor under any circumstances.

The venue was acquired on 16 June 2026 by Petroglyph Development Group (owned by the Snuneymuxw First Nation) in partnership with Musqueam Capital Corp, sitting on historic Musqueam lands. Standard resort policies, such as the daily resort fee of $19.99 per room plus tax, apply to layover stays. The resort fee covers high-speed WiFi, bottled water, access to the indoor pool, water slide, hot tub, and the fitness centre (open daily 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM).

Morning Departure Back to YVR Terminals

Departing for YVR in the morning involves reversing your arrival path. Re-enter Bridgeport station via the Sky Bridge walkway or street level crossing. Ensure you take a train clearly marked for YVR–Airport rather than Richmond–Brighouse, as the line splits at Bridgeport station. Canada Line trains operate from approximately 5:00 AM to 1:00 AM daily (check TransLink schedules for exact first and last train departures).

If you brought a vehicle or rental car instead of taking SkyTrain, hotel self-parking in the West lot is included in the daily resort fee. Drivers carrying tall cargo or over-height roof boxes can use the East Parkade over-height stalls at $25.00 per night. See our guides to parking rates and the garage or Canada Line transit connections for full access maps.
