Bridgeport Station & Transit Guide

Canada Line SkyTrain Access to River Rock

River Rock Casino Resort sits directly across Great Canadian Way from Bridgeport station on TransLink's Canada Line. We timed the walks, mapped the station layout, checked the ticket machines, and tracked the connections from YVR Airport and downtown Vancouver so you can step off the platform and walk straight to check-in.

Bridgeport Station Location and SkyTrain Junction

Bridgeport station, located at 2211 Great Canadian Way in Richmond, opened on August 17, 2009, in preparation for the 2010 Winter Olympics. The station acts as the primary junction for the Canada Line network south of the Fraser River. Just southwest of the platform, the line splits at a elevated flying junction: one track runs west to Vancouver International Airport (YVR–Airport station), while the main line continues south through Richmond to Richmond–Brighouse station.

Because Bridgeport sits at this central fork, every northbound train heading toward downtown Vancouver passes through the station. Whether a train originates at YVR or at Richmond–Brighouse, it stops at Bridgeport. For guests staying at River Rock Casino Resort, this means rapid transit service connects the property to both the airport terminals and Waterfront station in downtown Vancouver without needing a personal vehicle or taxi.

The resort itself stands on Musqueam lands at 8811 River Road. Since June 16, 2026, the property has been owned by a partnership between Petroglyph Development Group (wholly owned by the Snuneymuxw First Nation) and Musqueam Capital Corp. Commercial gaming is conducted and managed by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) and regulated by the Independent Gambling Control Office (IGCO). Entry to the casino gaming floor requires guests to be 19 years of age or older with government-issued photo ID checked at the entrance.

Arriving from Vancouver International Airport (YVR)

When landing at YVR, travellers do not need to look for an airport shuttle. The resort does not operate a dedicated private shuttle bus because the Canada Line offers a direct train connection from the airport terminals to Bridgeport station.

From either the Canada Arrivals area or the International Arrivals hall, follow the overhead signs marked 'Canada Line' or 'Train to City'. Elevators and escalators lead directly to the YVR–Airport SkyTrain platform located above the parkade structure between the main terminals. Board any departing train from YVR–Airport station; all outgoing trains from this terminal run east toward Bridgeport and downtown Vancouver.

The train travel time from YVR–Airport station to Bridgeport station is brief. Bridgeport is the third stop after leaving the airport, following Sea Island Centre and Templeton stations. When you step off at Bridgeport, you are directly across the street from the resort complex. If you are arriving with heavy luggage, the station features up and down escalators as well as a full-sized elevator down to the street level concourse.

If you are planning an overnight stop between flights, review our airport layover guide for a step-by-step evening timeline that coordinates flight arrival, train transfer, and hotel check-in.

Travelling Between Downtown Vancouver and Bridgeport

Heading into downtown Vancouver from River Rock or arriving at the hotel from Waterfront station takes roughly 20 to 25 minutes on the Canada Line. From Waterfront station—located at the foot of Granville Street—board any southbound Canada Line train. Both 'YVR–Airport' trains and 'Richmond–Brighouse' trains stop at Bridgeport station.

This dual-branch system gives Bridgeport double the train frequency of the individual spur lines. During peak operating hours, trains arrive at Bridgeport every few minutes. The daily operating schedule for the Canada Line generally runs from approximately 5:00 AM to 1:00 AM. For exact first and last train departure times from specific platforms, check TransLink schedules prior to late-night travel.

Using the SkyTrain allows guests to visit downtown attractions, cruise terminals at Canada Place, or Pacific Central Station without dealing with city traffic over the Oak Street Bridge or Knight Street Bridge. If you are deciding whether to drive or take transit during peak commuter hours, see our notes on driving from Vancouver to compare bridge congestion against train travel times.

TransLink Fares, Compass Cards, and YVR AddFare Rules

Transit fares on the TransLink network depend on the number of zone boundaries crossed, the form of payment used, and whether an airport surcharge applies. Tickets and stored value can be purchased at Compass Vending Machines inside any Canada Line station using cash, debit cards, or major credit cards. You can also tap a contactless Visa, Mastercard, or American Express card, or a mobile wallet at the fare gates.

Published Fares and Payment Options

  • 1-Zone Fare: $3.50 cash/contactless, or $2.85 using Compass stored value.
  • 2-Zone Fare: $5.10 cash/contactless, or $4.20 using Compass stored value.
  • 3-Zone Fare: $6.70 cash/contactless, or $5.40 using Compass stored value.
  • DayPass: $12.55 for unlimited daily travel across all zones.

TransLink operates a three-zone system across Metro Vancouver during weekdays from start of service until 6:30 PM. After 6:30 PM on weekdays, as well as all day on Saturdays, Sundays, and statutory holidays, the entire network operates as a 1-zone system.

The YVR AddFare Rules

A specific surcharge called the YVR AddFare ($6.50) applies to regular single fares and DayPasses purchased at or tapping out from the three stations located on Sea Island: YVR–Airport, Sea Island Centre, and Templeton. This fee is automatically added when initiating a journey outbound from the airport toward Bridgeport or downtown Vancouver.

However, travel strictly between the three Sea Island stations (YVR–Airport, Sea Island Centre, and Templeton) is free. Furthermore, journeys originating outside Sea Island and traveling to YVR do not trigger the $6.50 AddFare. Monthly pass holders and certain pre-purchased ticket types are also exempt from the AddFare. Check TransLink for complete fare exemption policies and updated pricing schedules.

Walking from Bridgeport Platform to the Resort Lobby

We walked and timed the route from the elevated SkyTrain platform to the main hotel desk. The walk takes approximately three to five minutes on flat, paved walkways and fully enclosed elevated bridges.

When your train arrives at Bridgeport station, follow these steps to reach the resort lobby:

  1. Disembark on the elevated platform and follow signs toward the main station concourse and exit doors.
  2. Take the elevator or descending escalator down to the fare gate level. Tap your ticket or card at the fare gate to exit.
  3. Exit the station concourse toward Great Canadian Way. You will see the massive multi-level parking structure and the timber-framed entrance of River Rock directly across the roadway.
  4. Cross at the marked pedestrian signal on Great Canadian Way or use the connected overhead walkway network linking the parkade to the resort building.
  5. Follow the interior signage through the glass doors into the main atrium. The hotel registration desk for both the Hotel Tower and Casino Tower is clearly signed inside the main entrance.

If you arrive in a vehicle larger than standard passenger size, review our parking and garage access guide for details on clearance height limits in the West and East parkades before pulling up to the front entrance.

Regional Bus Connections at Bridgeport Exchange

In addition to the Canada Line rail platform, Bridgeport station houses a major regional bus exchange directly beneath the SkyTrain guideway. This hub connects Richmond and the casino resort with suburban communities across the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley.

Bus bays at Bridgeport Exchange serve several key routes, including:

  • Route 620: Direct express service connecting Bridgeport station to the Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal for BC Ferries sailings to Victoria (Swartz Bay) and Nanaimo (Duke Point).
  • Routes 311, 351, 601: Express commuter connections to White Rock, South Surrey, and Delta.
  • Routes 403, 407: Local Richmond routes serving suburban residential areas and commercial zones along River Road and Shell Road.
  • Routes 430, 480, 900: Suburban express routes connecting to Metrotown, UBC, and regional transit nodes.

For guests using the resort as a regional starting point for sightseeing, taking Route 620 from Bridgeport provides a direct link to Vancouver Island ferries without requiring a personal vehicle.
